Ways to Help

There are many ways to help out in the BLC programme and enable schools to raise the profile of language learning.

The Business Language Champions programme is very flexible and events will depend upon business and school schedules, the number of students (or schools) involved and which languages are being promoted.

The scope for BLC events is very wide but they generally come under the following categories:

Short talks and Workshops

BLC short talks and workshops are a quick and effective way of getting across the message that languages are very relevant to today's workforce. Short talks work well if schools have to fit activities within a given lesson slot or if business representatives are unable to commit to full-day events. Workshops are ideal as a 'one-off' event and can always be built upon or repeated in the future.

Partnerships

These are ongoing partnerships between a school and business. The activity undertaken is decided upon by the partnership and is of an ongoing nature, usually taking the form of workshops, workplace visits, etc.

Special events

These special events are usually one-day events organised either by the school or by an education organisation such as BLC, Young Enterprise or the Institute for Education Business Excellence. Business Language Champions are asked to attend to help out with activities and give them a business focus.
