Staff

When preparing to enter foreign markets it is important to prepare your staff for language and cultural differences.

Factors to consider

  • The current language capabilities of your staff - have they lived or worked abroad, have they previously studied languages?
  • Which members of staff will have contact with foreign clients and will thus require language skills - remember receptionists are often the first point of contact and would benefit from being able to greet overseas customers and deal with their telephone enquiries effectively.
  • A Language Training Needs Analysis - The RLN's 'Languages Mean Business' service can identify what language and cultural training your company requires, locate a suitable provider and signpost you towards any available funding.
  • Language and cultural training - the RLN can help by sourcing quality-assured training providers to suit your requirements.
  • Recruiting staff with language skills - the RLN can help source multilingual students and graduates for short-term and summer placements. Find out more go
