On this page we will keep you up to date with the latest language events from our Business Language Champions and Languages Work projects, as well as informing you about any other interesting language events taking place in the East Midlands.

 

Grove School Language Project Launch - 24 September 2010

To coincide with celebrations for European Day of Languages, the Grove School in Newark will launch their language project on 24 September. They will be supported by their Business Language Champion, Jo Small from Optima Training, to develop presentations and resources to encourage others to learn languages.

Widening Russian Horizons - 26 April 2010

This showpiece event, funded by the Linked Up award scheme and UK Trade & Investment in the East Midlands, will bring together the renowned Hermitage Ensemble from St Petersburg, many Russian natives and Russian speakers from the area, East Midlands businesses trading in Russia and 330 Nottingham school children to bring the Russian culture, language and heritage alive.

Unity School Northampton - 28 April 2010

This event is being run by the Northamptonshire Education Business Partnership with support by Business Language Champions. Teams will be putting together a travel guide for India, Pakistan, Eastern Europe or the Caribbean.

The Long Eaton School Entreprise Day - 08 July 2010

This school has the aim of making all of its student ‘Global Citizens’ so this special Enterprise Day with their Year 9 group will have an international slant.

We’re looking for a large number of BLCs to support this so whatever your language or international experience we’d love to hear from you!

LEBC Olympic Challenge - exact date tbc

This event is being run by the LEBC, sponsored by Business Language Champions East Midlands and with the collaboration of the Regional Coordinator for the Children and Young People’s Legacy from the 2012 Games. The participating schools will be competing for a trip to the Olympic site and the LOCOG offices and will have to put together a package to tempt an overseas (foreign language speaking of course!) Olympic team to base themselves at their school.
