The Regional Language Network in partnership with emita, are running a masterclass to empower businesses who trade internationally. Expert speakers will give information, practical tips and examples of best practice on a whole range of aspects relating to international communication.
Free Business Language Courses for SMEs - Nottingham, Loughborough & Northants
From September 2006, small to medium-sized companies in the East Midlands region will be able to take advantage of FREE intensive business language training to help their business succeed in Europe. Course fees and materials are fully funded by the European Social Fund, making this an excellent business opportunity. Recent research shows that only 28% of UK executives feel confident in negotiating in another language. These courses will equip delegates with the essential language skills and confidence to help their company compete effectively in overseas markets.
Courses are being held at the venues below. All courses start in September 2006.

This course aims to make you aware of some of the pit falls that are possible, and make sure you are ready to handle your first overseas order. Past event - International Communications Master Class 2006 - Speak your customers' language
It is a fact that the most successful exporters are those that make an effort to understand their customers' culture and language.
A Master Class event, jointly organised by emda, and the Regional Language Network (RLN) East Midlands was held to raise awareness of the benefits of effective international business communications. The event was held at Bio City, Nottingham on Friday 5th May. New and existing exporters were offered practical advice and examples of best practice.
The event also showcased some of the winners of the 2005 East Midlands International Business Communication Awards, who presented case studies and shared secrets of their success with the audience.
The event was chaired by Isabella Moore CBE, Director of CILT, the National Centre for Languages.

Past event - International Communications Master Class - 22/04/05
The International Communications Master Class event was sponsored by the East Midlands Development Agency and organised by the Regional Language Network East Midlands. The aim was to raise awareness of the benefits of effective international communications, and give practical advice and examples of best practise to new and existing exporters. The event will showcase the winners of the 2004 East Midlands International Business Communication Awards ( www.emibca.co.uk), and included interactive sessions with expert professionals in the fields of website localisation, translation/interpreting, foreign language training and international communications strategy.
