New institute links to China 28.09.07
A New institute opened yesterday at the University of Nottingham to promote understanding of Chinese language and culture in the UK.
The Confucius Institute will deepen existing links with schools, business, government, community groups and the Chinese cultural community.
It will also promote academic links with Chinese universities and showcase the country's contemporary art and media.
The university has strong links with China and opened a campus in Ningbo, south of Shanghai, in 2005.
The launch in the Trent Building at 11.30am included a plaque unveiling, a reception and Chinese lion dancing.
