Pupils on course for language lessons 18.10.07

Eleven pupils at a city school are about to jet off to Russia on a two-week language course. Students at Lincoln's Christ Hospital School will visit Yarolsavl, 300 miles north-east of Moscow.

The trip, organised by the British Council, has been arranged to give the pupils a better understanding of the language.

Group leader and the school's special projects consultant Chris Williams said:

"It is important for Britain to improve both knowledge and understanding of this vast country.

"Russia is and will remain a most powerful state with huge economic power as well as a fascinating history and rich culture.

"The ability to communicate in Russian will be important for centuries to come.

"We hope that this visit will stimulate intense interest among our young people and inspire them to continue their learning at higher levels."
