Community honour for two involved in twinning links 25.10.07

Wirksworth's mayor has presented certificates of honour to two residents for their work in the community.

Cllr Andy Pollock made the presentation to Alastair Clark and Pam Taylor, both key figures in the development of the town's twinning links with France and Germany.

Alastair ran canoeing for the Trailblazer scheme. He was also instrumental in setting up the town's website and has also been very active in the development of Stoney Wood.

Former town councillor Pam Taylor has taught languages at Anthony Gell and made it possible for pupils to visit France, Germany and, soon, China. She has also served the Wirksworth Festival for many years.

Cllr Pollock said: " We are blessed in Wirksworth with many many active, creative and dedicated people but none more so than Pam and Alastair."
